Analytic continuation and the famous series 1 + 2 + 3 + ⋅⋅⋅

We have all heard about this. Two physicists, Tony Padilla and Ed Copeland at the University of Nottingham, presented a so-called astounding result in a youtube video made by Brady Haran.

Namely that the infinite series 1+2+3+⋅⋅⋅ = -1/12.
